Insight & Approach

For over 130 years, McGraw has been a trusted brand delivering best-in-class content to the education sector. Over the past several years, McGraw has embarked on a transition from a traditional print publisher to a leading educational technology company, delivering the vast majority of its content in digital form. In 2018, Vector’s credit team had begun uncovering opportunities in the EdTech sector, which led to an investment in McGraw’s debt in 2019 and again in 2020 during the COVID-driven downturn. In October 2021, after Platinum Equity announced an acquisition of McGraw, Vector was brought in as a value-added co-investment partner to Platinum, given Vector’s nearly 25-year track record of investing in and transforming software and technology companies.

Vector Value Add

As a technology investor, Vector brings software and product expertise to McGraw and is actively supporting the company through its digital transformation. Vector is collaborating with McGraw’s management team to transform its R&D organization, make operational enhancements to increase efficiency and financial margins, and evaluate M&A opportunities.
