Jim is currently CEO of Certara, a Vector Capital portfolio company engaged in the business of providing discovery informatics software to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Jim has devoted his career to entrepreneurial initiatives within small and medium sized technology companies, ranging from startups to public companies with a few thousand employees.
He has been CEO and CFO in Nasdaq-listed technology companies, and has been on the boards of more than a dozen public and private companies during the last decade. He has taken companies through the IPO process, and has conducted strategic acquisitions and divestitures both public and private.
Jim’s formal education was in Business and Information Systems, earning a BBA from the University of Texas (Arlington Campus). He spent a number of years as a software engineer prior to moving into engineering management, then later into product marketing, sales and general management of technology companies.
